The most thoughtful gift he ever gave me!

I just had to share w/ y'all the wonderful Christmas present hubby gave me. It's the best one ever, as a matter of fact. Can you tell what it is?

It's nothing!!!!! But it really is the best Christmas present ever! Let me explain...hubby & I agreed that because of finances, we were not going to exchange gifts this year. Our business has taken some hard hits this year.... first Clifton's accident & the damage from the fire, then we were burglarized the night of his accident (somebody saw it on the news & knew that because of the fire, there would be no electricity & therefore, no alarms or security cameras), then we were closed for some time while he was in the hospital, then hubby closed early every day for months to help me bathe & do dressing changes on Clifton & of course, we all know how the economy is doing right now. Anyway, finances are strung pretty tight & nobody knows it better than me. But on Wednesday, I called hubby, practically in tears, because I broke my camera. read this post for explanation He sympathized but there's not a lot he can say, that will help ease my sorrow. He keeps saying "I want to get you a better camera anyway" (by better he means an SLR... my camera was already a pretty good one) & I sob, "but we can't afford it!"

He comes home from work, walks in the door & says "I had a pretty good day @ work.... let's go get you a camera." I burst into tears, tell him how much I love him but said "no, I don't want to spend money we can't afford" but he insists. Telling me he knows how much my camera means to me & that I am not going to be happy using my old, lousy digital. He says "your blog is your entertainment & you need a good camera." I finally relent ;o) & while I am getting ready, he takes a look-see @ my broken camera. It powered right up when he turned it on & it works just fine!

So he gets all the credit for being a wonderful, thoughtful husband, I'm filled w/ gratitude, appreciation & love & it didn't cost us a dime! I'm serious... nothing will always be the best present he ever gave me! *dabbing a tear away*

Awwww, that is so sweet!

My husband has given me some expensive gifts over the years but the one that meant the most to me was a pack of Teaberry gum.

I have never been a gum chewer, but somewhere in our years together I mentioned that the only gum I ever bought as a kid was Teaberry because I liked the flavor. It isn't something I see often at the checkout now, it has gone the way of wax lips, Squirrels and other penny candies.

The day he came home with Teaberry gum because he saw it and remembered that it was the only flavor I bought as a kid made me burst into happy tears.

Thoughtful gifts definitely are the best!

We stopped giving presents to each other years ago on birthdays & Christmas. Instead, we enjoy buying something special for us or the house when we travel or are out antiquing. Also, we like to be able to spend a little extra on church projects for the less fortunate at Christmas. How thoughtful of your husband to realize the importance of blogging to you - that's a gift in itself! Sally

What a wonderful story! With all of the trouble ya'll have experienced, how great of him to want to go get you a camera! Yes, I definitely think you have a "keeper" in him! I hate to sound dumb, but what is an SLR? laurie

So sweet and a great story to pass along to your children! Love your blog!

My hubby named a star after me one year and I thought that was so romantic.

I love when they can think out of the box!
