Hoppy Easter!

Hello everybody! I haven't played in a blog party in a while so I thought I'd join in on Pink Saturday....hosted by Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound. It's usually all about pinks but today she's doing an Easter theme & it's pinks & yellows. I know I said it was all or nothing w/ my Easter decorations but I lied. My back & shoulder are still bothering me terribly so I wasn't able to do much. There's lots of decorations still strewn about my upstairs den where I unpacked it (threw my back out unpacking it & haven't felt up to re-packing what I'm not going to use) but I won't share those pics w/ you. ;o) I will share a couple of pretty vignettes I created though.

My collection of sugar eggs. I have a big one w/ scene, medium w/ no inside diorama & a teeny, teeny tiny one (about 2"...it's under the dome) w/ a scene inside. I LOVE them & keep saying I'm gonna make one myself but here another year has passed & I still haven't followed through.

This one doesn't have scene inside but it sure is decorated pretty on top, huh?

This is the scene inside the big egg. Love all the details!

And look at the teeny bunny inside the small egg. That little bunny is probably only 1/2 an inch or so....amazing!

My HOPE sign turns to HOP when Easter comes around & often turns into POE for Halloween. LOL I love the sweet embroidered bunny on the table topper.

My mantel is all decked out w/ faux chcolate rabbits. I know I'm probably the only one in blogland still using then but I love them. One year I used real chocolate bunnies & then after Easter, hubby & I fondued them. LOL

I have a framed, sheet music cover from the 50's that goes w/ their theme. I also have a vintage Peter Cottontail sheet music cover but it didn't make it into the decor this year.

I added some of my carrot collection to my mini-curio.

LOVE this paper mache bunny...I've had him for years.

A few more carrots in this mini-curio. I usually don't allow any brass into my house unless it gets painted...I spent far too much time in the 80's polishing brass. LOL But I make an exception for these little curios. The tiara on top was a recent thrift find.

Another Pink w/ Caralyn!

As promised, here are pictures of last week's birthday girl in this year's pink birthday dress. I made her tiara & will do a post featuring it soon. Gosh, she looks so grown up! *dabbing the tears away*

Pinks, tiaras & granddaughters...they go hand in hand. ;o)

Pink Saturday...Happy Birthday Caralyn!

For today's Pink Saturday post...I wanted to honor the brightest, sweetest, loveliest spot of pink in my life...my granddaughter, Miss Caralyn Camille (yep, I am very honored that she shares my name, as I shared it w/ my grandmother). She turns 4 today so it's a big day! We're having a family party & then she will spend the night next week & we'll shop for barbie clothes & do our annual birthday tea... I had such a hard time finding her the perfect tea cup this year!

When Caeden (who's 7) heard that we were having another tea party, he exclaimed "hey, I wanna come!". My daughter, Shilah just looked at me & said, "we didn't cut Honey's apron strings off that boy soon enough." LOL

Here is Caralyn shortly after she was born. Get a load of all that hair! She had an Elvis pompadour for several months then it started falling out & looked scraggly. Poor thing... every day was a bad hair day for her until she was about a year old.


By her first birthday it had all fallen out & was growing back in so it didn't look so bad...see! Funny how her hair was more sparse @ a year than it was @ a week, huh?


By her 2nd birthday, she had a gorgeous head of hair!

By her 3rd birthday, her hair had thickened up enough to get her a great bob cut. She looked so cute in it! You can't tell in this pic but it's really short in back.

This was taken a few months ago & look how wonderful her hair is now...straight & thick w/ lots of body. Shilah & I both have frizzyish, curly hair so we really envy this asset of her's! Course now she won't let us bob it as she wants it long "like her friends". Damn that peer pressure! ;o)

Pink Saturday...the elusive Caralyn.

Hello & welcome to another Pink Saturday...hosted by Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound . For today's post, I wanted to share my efforts to capture my granddaughter, Caralyn (she's wearing pink...she's always wearing pink! ) on film. She's not camera shy...she just enjoys messing w/ me. ;o) Every time she sees me point teh camera @ her, she turns her head & her hair covers her face; as you'll see in picture after picture, all taken on the same afternoon. I say she's like trying to capture a shot of Bigfoot & she really is about as elusive.

Got her!!!! And ironically, this shot of her reminds me so much of that infamous Bigfoot photo. LOL Doesn't it? Or is just because I spent a couple of hours trying to capture her?

My favorite...it made all my efforts worthwhile! Gonna share a little secret though...the only way I was able to capture her was to wait until she was wayyyy off & then zoom in w/out her knowledge. ;o)

It's Pink Saturday's birthday!

Today is Pink Saturday's one year birthday! Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound has graciously hosted this fun event, week after week...be sure & thank her for all her efforts.

For today's post, I wanted to share this shot of a song sparrow that visited my backyard last month. No, the bird's not pink (wouldn't that be too cool....my granddaughter Caralyn would be thrilled) but the rose in the foreground is. ;o)

I love song sparrows....the name implies that they have a lovely song & they do. If you'd like to hear one, go here . They're also fun to watch as they will run across the yard like a robin...they just look so comical.

Hope you are all enjoying Spring...summer & the heat it brings is just around the corner!

In the Pink!

For today's pink Saturday post, I am sharing a vase that I love. The vase is Noritake & has the nippon mark, which dates it to about 1949. It is beautifully handpainted, I think the signature reads T. Ikeno. I bought it @ a thrift store many years ago for $10. I saw it on the shelf, w/ it's mate (for there were 2 of them!), from clear across the store. Before I made it to them, another lady picked them both up & examined them....putting one back & keeping the other. I practically knocked her down getting to it (not really!) & always wondered why she put this one back. It's in perfect condition w/out a mark or blemish on it...maybe 10 bucks was all she had on her. Maybe she was being generous w/ her beautiful finds & left one for someone else..whatever the reason, I have always been glad that I was in the right place @ the right time. Isn't it beautiful?

Hello! Time for another Pink'ed post! Pink Saturdays are hosted by Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound...be sure & leave her a comment thanking her for her hsopitality. You know it's a lot of work composing links for 100 people every week. I sure hope I make it around to everybody this week. It's hard to visit that many but I'll do my best though.

For today's Pink Saturday post, I'm shaking things up a bit by throwing in some red. ;o) See! My Valentine fairy is wearing pink & red. I got her @ one of the discount stores....TJMaxx, Ross or Marshall's. I shop @ all 3 & they are all alike so I get confused.

And there's also lots of pink hearts on my Valentine tree! Some pink roses too!!! I looked all over @ the after-Christmas sales for a white feather tree but no luck. So I used a white boa as a tree skirt on my aluminum tree to give the same effect. Welllll, almost...it's not quite the same so I still want a white feather tree. The great thing about this silver one though is it'll take you from Valentine's to Easter (I wrap the feather boa as a garland then) to Halloween & on into Christmas, of course.

I'll be sharing the rest of my Valentine's decor next week. I am realllly pleased w/ it this year. Course I say that every year & then by next year, I won't think it's so hot. ;o) I do think I am getting better & better every year though. And you know who I credit that too? Y'all! All you bloggers! I think your influence & inspiration has created so much growth in my development as a decorator. I really feel like my style is blossoming & for that, I thank you!

In the Pink!

Hello! I'm playing in Pink Saturday again this week, hosted by Beverly @ How Sweet the Sound. I wasn't able to get around to everybody last week but I did visit a lot of new, beautiful blogs. Nice to meet everybody! Last week, I started visiting blogs from the beginning of the list & then from the end...this week, I'll start in the middle & hopefully make it to everyone's blogs that I didn't get to last week.

I bought a pair of capodimonte style lamps @ a garage sale many, many years ago (long before they worked in any room of my house but they were only $20.00 for the pair...minus the shades!) They have no marks on them so I don't know who they were made by. I only have one displayed & the other sits in closet...I guess I really should find a home for it too.

Not sure this is the right shade for it...what do y'all think? Honestly? I've tried a marabou feather trimmed shade but that wasn't quite right. Should I do more elaborate like this fringed dome or just use a simple bell shade?

Love the "figurines"! What are cherubs called when they don't have wings?



And look how sweet the violets around the base of the lamp are! They're teeny-tiny.

I'm in the pink!

Today is my first time to participate in Beverly's Pink Saturday blog party. I have quite a few pink things & I love parties so why not? You all were having too much fun & I wanted to play too. ;o)





For my very first Pink Saturday post, I'm sharing a couple of treasured bone dishes by Ardalt....the pattern is 6699 B but I've never seen any others like them. I bought them many, many years ago, when I first started thrifting.


I love the painted dots on them...I like to rub my fingers over them ...it reminds me of the Braille books we had in elementary. I used to love the feel of them too.

And look at the teeny-tiny hand painted roses! Aren't they sweet?

I hung the pair of these lovely bone dishes (it's not what they're made of...it's what they're for...they sat at the head of the dinner plate & bones were deposited in them), upstairs in my guest room, on either side of a beveled mirror. The framed picture on the mirror is actually the cover to a piece of old sheet music from the early 1900's. I'll share more of it, as well as the rest of my collection, in a 3 or More Thursday post soon.
