I haven't been to many blogging parties lately...mostly because they have all gotten so popular, w/ so many participants, that it's hard to visit everybody. So I am going to start limiting myself to no more than 2 parties a week.... hopefully I'll be able to get around to all of the players but it may take me a few days to do do. I'll skip around to each party & plan on doing each once a month, instead of weekly as I have in the past.
For today's post, I wanted to share an unusual visitor I recently had to my window hummingbird feeder...a male house finch! I've seen orioles @ hummingbird feeders but never a house finch, have y'all?
Checking to see if the coast is clear.
This pic shows that he wasn't just confused & hoping there was seed in this feeder...he drank from every portal he could reach & returned for more several times over teh next few days, then he never returned. ????
Maybe he needed a temporary sugar rush to keep us w/ his young'uns! ;o) House finches are probably my favorite birds (it's so hard to pick a definite favorite!)...they're beautiful, have a lovely song & a sweet temperament.
There are always lots of interesting posts in the Outdoor Wednesday parties...come w/ me to Susan's to see what everyone else is up to!

Wow.. what a beautiful shot you got.. it was good to see you darling. I hope things are well your way..hugs ~lynne~
Hi Cami! Well, that's a first for me! I have a lot of house finches also, and a hummingbird feeder, but I've never seen them visit it. Funny! This year I have only seen one very shy hummingbird and only a few times, but the nectar keeps going down! I never thought about the other birds visiting it. I'll have to watch more closely! I have had to slow down on blogging, too. I can't get anything done! lol I hope you are having a great summer!...hugs...Debbie
What adorable pictures, Cami! Look how sweet he is! And I love how he is checking to see if the coast is clear. Thanks for sharing this. Put a smile right on my face this morning.
Happy Outdoor Wed...
XO,
Sheila :-)
What a beautiful shot of the little finch. I think he is saying Desperate Times, Take Desperate Measures. He was hungry. That is a first because I have never known them to try Hummingbird food. So unusual. Great Post. Happy Outdoor Wednesday. Country Hugs, Sherry

How fun to be able to watch that sweet finch! I always get a kick at some of the positions they put themselves in trying to get to the syrup!

Cami, I have to tell you, sugar, that your photos of that bird are exquisite! You did well, honey. I think I'll join the Outdoor Wednesday group also. I love photographing my roses and yard......such as it is!

How pretty. Smart little bird found a sweet spot to stop. :)
great photos!!! One summer I was weeding in my garden and this little yellow budgie landed on my shoulder...I nearly crapped myself! A while later...he did it again...later that afternoon a woman was frantically walking around looking in the trees and asked if I had seen a yellow bird..WELL..of course I had...it turned out he thought I was her, as I have blonde hair too...and he had escaped from her home through an open window with no screen in it as her son had snuck out the night before!!! I helped her find him, and still wonder what happened to the son for this fiasco!!! Busted by his own bird!!
Hi Cami, oh, this is soooo sweet. Happy Outdoor Wednesday.

You got some great photos of that lovely finch. Looks like he needed a sugar rush indeed!
Your photos are awesome! I love the cute expressions!
That's a great shot, Cami!
We have finches here in NH but they are yellow as far as I know; I've never seen them at our feeder.

Cami, I had LOST you!! I kept trying to think of your blog name and finally ran across it on someone else's blog. I've missed you and keeping up with what's going on with you and your latest projects. :)
You got some wonderful pictures of that house finch. No, I've never seen one at a hummer feeder. Did you take those pics through glass or straight on. Beautiful pictures of a beautiful bird.
I love those little finches too! They are probably my favorite also, along with the cardinals.
Thanks for your visit :) I hear you on the parties!
~Susan
How sweet he is. We don't know why he was there, but he knew what he was up to.
Wow, house finches, how fun! I don't think I have ever seen one. And guess what, I think I made a mistake. I don't think the storks we saw were actually storks, but pelicans instead! Oh well, what do I know?! Thanks for coming by and commenting on my blog, be sure to come back sometime. Hugs, cindy s
These are fantastic pictures!
Oh Cami, these photographs are so fabulous! I don't think I've ever seen a House Finch. He is a beauty, and I enjoyed your pictures so much. laurie
What great pictures! The one where he is looking around is my favorite! Thanks for sharing!
