Tablescape Thursday

Hello & welcome to another Tablescape Thursday! Hosted as always by Susan @ Between Naps on the Porch.

Today I am sharing tables from past Valentine's. This was the table from '06. As you can see, I didn't go all out. Although I think I'll use those cranberry plates & goblets again this year. I never used them @ Christmas this past year so they really should be able to come out & play for Valentine's.

This was Valentin'es breakfast in '07. There are 3 placesettings because Connor lucked out..... his scheduled, weekly sleepover fell on the 13th. The 2 "runners" are actually crushed velvet curtain panels.

I didn't let him eat candy for breakfast but I did fix him up a "to-go" bag to take to school. We had coffee in our cups, Connor had hot chocolate. Here's a video showing how to fold the napkin They're using a paper napkin though. If using cloth, you'll get a neater look if you iron after every fold.

This is what I served for breakfast. Looks special, tastes delicious & is a cinch to put together. I'm pretty sure this recipe was on the Kraft calendar for that year. I threw that out so I don't have the recipe but I'll try to wing it for you. Anyway, you cut puff pastry into heart shapes, bake (can't remember for how long but not very) slice strawberries (so they too are in a heart shape) , add whipped cream, sandwich w/ another puff pastry heart & drizzle w/ chocolate.

This was our dinner table for '07. I think I strayed a bit too far into the realm of tacky w/ this table. ;o)

Love the placesetting though!

We had Deep Fried Camembert with Raspberry Sauce for an appetizer (highly recommend recipe but you should read reviews for revisions I made...I'm ImVintage in the reviews) . We also had cocktail shrimp w/ a raspberry sauce, lobster de jonghe & steamed asparagus but I've lost the pics of those dishes.

For dessert, we had chocolate cherry heart cakes. I didn't use a recipe (in fact I used a boxed mix) but I half-filled the heart-shaped muffin tins, added a tbp of cherry pie filling then added more batter, baked & frosted them, sprinkled them w/ red sugar & wrote "I love you" in chocolate on a big glass plate. I also drizzled just a bit of liquefied raspberry jam (couple of seconds in the microwave will do it) on teh plate before adding the heart cake.

This was our table from last year. I used some of my milk glass collection as well as my Pink Peony (by Churchill) dishes.

The pattern is called Pink Peony but it's just as red as it can be! The little fork is on the tea cup beacsue I used them to serve some savory dish but I can't remember what & I lost alllll food pics from this meal.

Guess I should give some thought as to how my table will be this year, huh? There are a lot of people joining in on Tablescape Thursdays now. Should be lots of inspiration for me today.

Beautiful indeed. I'm impressed with the special breakfast. I can barely make it to the coffee pot. I've never seen napkins folded in a heart shape. I'll check out the video.
