Hello & welcome to another Trim a Tree Thursday! I'm trimming a different kind of tree today. Brush trees!
Here they are in their "before" state. I tried bleaching some brush trees a couple of weeks ago but even though, I left them in the bleach overnight, it had no effect. So I spray-painted, flocked & glittered those. Then I bought some more @ Big Lots & realized that they were made out of 2 different materials. The trees that wouldn't bleach (& they had those @ Big Lots also) were stiffer & more like plastic. These are a softer, brushier material.
After soaking in bleach water overnight.
After rolling in white paint.
Several years ago, I bought a few strands of vintage glass bead garland. The lot came w/ one unstrung set & I planned on re-stringing them but never got around to it. So I used those beads as ornaments on my made-over trees. Sometimes being a procrastinator pays off!

ReplyDeleteCUTE brush trees! Love what you did to them. And I noticed your Santa Mug collection. My mother had about 5 or 6 that she always put in the kitchen window sill with springs of Christmas tree branches and tiny red berried. Your mugs brought back a lot of sweet memories. Thanks!
